NEW MINI-CD “HottoïzzoH” OUT NOW!
Now Onségen Ensemble releases their second mcd HottoïzzoH. Musically it continues in the vein of the debut mixing together softer and harder tones and beats. The title HottoïzzoH is a zaum concept made up of two Finnish words: "hotto" and "hossi". It combines the meanings of "hollow" or "soft-from-the-inside" and "rush" or "hurry". These meanings together with its typographical arrangement conveys a semantic and visual analogue for the structure and the musical ideas of the mcd.

THE BAND
2004-2005 Juujärvi and Pulkkinen starts jaming and arranging the former's riffs as a drum'n'bass duet at Hiukkavaara rehearsal place. Nissinen is recruited to play his selfmade guitars. Auditions for some additional musicians such as a clarinetist, a keyboard player, a couple of singers, and a percussionist takes place but none is yet found suitable. In the winter and spring of 2005 Onségen Ensemlbe records two tracks at Hiukkavaara: "VaÍno" and "Kuuhanka". In June 2005 Jukka Limingoja sang the vocals on "Kuuhanka".
Oulu 1998-2001 Pulkkinen joins Rautakanki in 1997 and an year later recruits Juujärvi to play bass, leaving Nissinen to concentrate on the guitar. Rautakanki is still alive and kicking. Juujärvi and Pulkkinen gets the idea of starting an auditive project of their own to satisfy their musical obsessions. Impressed by Primal Scream's Xtrmntr they plan to do some kind of electro-acoustic rock. But the name, Mekanik Machine, used for the work in progress gives a clue where the music was eventually heading.
Kajaani-Oulu 1995-1997 Nissinen terrorizes the national underground punk and hard core scene through various conglomerations such as Blind Pilots (1991-1995). Nissinen's 1985 born bluestoner project Azma continues its existence, Pulkkinen being one of it's most recent sessionists. 1995 Nissinen forms punk-grooving apocalypso band Rautakanki.
Kokkola-Rovaniemi 1993-1998 Juujärvi and Pulkkinen collaborate on gothic metal group Parade of Souls' 7" ep Empyreum? (1993) on which Juujärvi plays exceptionally keyboards. Juujärvi joins Black Crucifixion as a bass player and releases the mcd Promethean Gift (1993). Pulkkinen stays with Parade of Souls till 1997 releasing one album De Profundis (1996). Towards the end of the decade Juujärvi follows Black Crucifixion as it transforms to a more progressive orientated Promethean releasing albums such as Gazing the Invisible (1997) and Somber Regards (1998).

Greetings from Stockholm. Your new Ep sounds heavy even when listened to in the comfort of this great nation. Onrecht Jalon's saxomooze gives me gthe chills!
I downloaded your tracks a few months ago and really like your stuff. May I ask when we will see an album? Keep going, we need music like yours!
Vs:
No album in sight yet. Unfortunately we have been quite busy for the last six months or so. The material for a full lenght album is pretty much together, but it needs yet to be arranged and rehearsed. Anyway, Onségen is planning to record and release some new songs this autmn/winter to keep the thing going on...
Thanks for the music!I downloaded the two tracks. It's a bit like Hoyry Kone, probably because they're also Finnish.I also hear some French (Zeul)influences.I like it. Great two tracks.
